As an advocate for ecological adaptation, RESET initiates and participates in collaborative campaigns, projects and events in the UK and further afield.
2012 is the third year of this annual international competition with Dusty Gedge of livingroofs.org and the ecologist and masterplanner Gary Grant of the Green Roof Consultancy to prioritise design for biodiversity and the opportunities for an ecosystem services approach to adaptation.
The competition is run in association with CIRIA, and judging partners including Natural England, the Institution of Civil Engineers, SEPA, Scottish Natural Heritage, Forum for the Future, the Greater London Authority, the RSPB, Nottingham Trent University, Bere Architects, SimmondsMills Architects, and the Bat Conservation Trust. Principal Sponsors 2011 were the Victoria Business Improvement District and the Awards Ceremony was held on October 18th at the Museum of London. This year, the Biodiversity Pavilion includes a biodiverse green infrastructure display, a speaker area and stands and stalls to demonstrate how integrating nature into the built environment can help restore biodiversity and help us adapt to climate change. We will also be launching the 3rd year of the
Integrated Habitats Design Competition.
In association with Earth Building UK, Construction Skills, Schumacher College, the Centre for Alternative Technology, RESET is also co-ordinating live demonstrations of straw bale, rammed earth and other low impact building materials.
