The Friends of Devonshire Road Nature Reserve
is a local community group that manages and supports the 7 acre reserve that forms part of the Forest Hill to New Cross Gate railway cutting. It is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation - as it contains probably the finest suite of railside wildlife habitat in London.
In 2010, RESET helped to facilitate the FDRNR with discussions about whether to refurbish their hut or replace it with a purpose built visitor centre and educational facility.
The project is still in its early stages and FDRNR see it as essential to engage with as wide a cross-section of the community as possible; to find out what people want from the building, to engage with them so that the building becomes part of the fabric of the local community. With support from RESET a series of workshops and events took place in 2010, engaging with people about the project and to gather their views.
