An accredited 1-day masterclass on DIY small scale green roof construction hosted at John Little's beautiful house and garden in Essex. Led by John Little and Dusty Gedge, this practical, hands-on course is inspiring and fun.
The course will enable participants to learn about green roofs and their benefits. Background information will be provided on their history and evolution. The creation of wildlife habitats including local ecologies will be covered. Details will be given on the selection and purchase of suitable plants and substrates to be used on a green roof, and also the availability of all the materials.
Participants will gain practical experience in green roof construction with guidance from the tutors. By the end of the course, participants will have an overview of the benefits of green roofs and how they can be designed, as well as the practical skills necessary to build a green roof for their garden shed or similar structure. Participants also receive free copy of the Small Scale Green Roof Construction Guide.

John Little has over a decade of experience designing and installing green roofs and has won awards at Chelsea Flower Show for his work in managing urban green space. He is a co-author of Small Green Roofs and other publications.
Dusty Gedge is internationally recognised for his work to promote living roofs, instigating policy and co-authoring books with John and others on good green roof design. He is a director of the award winning Green Roof Consultancy and President of the European Federation of Green Roof Associations. He recently presented WWF's challenge to create a Rooftop Rainforest on Sky TV.
